Showjumping Burghley

As ever the prestigious Burghley Horse trials hosted the Pony Club Showjumping and our team did us very proud, especially as they were down to three riders due to a last minute injury for poor Annabel Molyneux.

The team was Amy Stone, Lizzy Barr and Charlotte Chapple, her first time at Burghley.

The course was big and testing, as we would expect, though there were a good few clear rounds early in the day, which didn’t follow later!

Our first competitor was Charlotte Chapple on her new horse Wonita of Bellhouse and she rode a sterling round to secure our first clear.

Next was Amy Stone on a borrowed horse from Jo Quinlan.  She produced a solid clear round on Violet, no mean feat on a horse she’d only ridden a handful of times.

Finally, with the pressure of having to go clear, was Lizzy Barr on her established partner, Wild Montana Skies.  A fabulous round was ridden, but there was an unlucky pole at the last.

The team finished on just the 4 faults.

There were only 8 teams finishing on a zero score, so this was a very respectable result for our Pony Club.
